You can’t take care of anyone else if
you can’t take care of yourself.Mary Jackson LPC
Hi! My name is Mary Jackson, Licensed Professional Counselor. I am also the founder and (sole) therapist of Wholehearted Living (read more about Wholehearted Living here).
I am here to support you with whatever challenges you are currently facing. I believe that counseling is a brave endeavor. Taking the initial step to begin counseling is a courageous choice and clients should expect that there will be struggles before wellness is achieved.
I have worked with clients to overcome depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, major life change, relationship issues, parenting problems, and career challenges. I will tailor our sessions and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. Together we will confront your emotional challenges and work toward living a life that is free of shame and self-doubt.
It takes courage to take the first steps towards a change. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you.
Therapy is a journey of healing and hope. I will encourage you to set goals, follow through on personal promises, and take care of yourself mind, body, and spirit. I will not tell you that “everything will be okay” or that “this storm will pass.” Instead, I will equip you with the tools and confidence to move forward.
Solution Focused Therapy – we set specific goals to focus on. Time spent in therapy is dependent on the individual, but brief (3-6 months on average, up to 1 year). My goal is for you to use the tools learned to live a healthy life independent of therapy.
Psychodynamic Therapy – I am here for you. Our sessions are authentic and unfiltered. We will develop a trusting relationship where you are safe to share your fears, feelings, and needs. I am a motivator and encourage you to let go of negative beliefs and live out your dreams.
My goal for all of my clients is always the same; feel healthy and confident to manage negative emotions with the tools and insight learned during their time in therapy.
WHY WORK WITH MARY?
Therapists have robust skills, talents, and passions. We are listeners, encouragers, and courage finders. There are a lot of helping professionals available, so why me?
I take great pride in being approachable. I am a therapist who has been in therapy. I know what it is like to need professional help.
I am committed to providing the most transparent, honest, and direct therapeutic relationship possible. I work hard to be open about my
thought processes in therapy and make sure that I communicate clinical concepts in an easy to understand fashion.
I have diverse experience with a wide range of clientele. I have worked to provide support to individuals who were experiencing crisis in both community and clinical settings. Additionally, I have supported individuals, families, and couples with a wide variety of needs.
I have experience working with individuals needing help to overcome depression, anxiety, communication/relationship needs, life transitions, work/life balance, independence/codependency, abandonment, and assertiveness.
I am a therapist who has been in therapy. I started working with a mental health counselor as a young teenager and have worked with professionals to overcome hardships and transitions throughout my adult life. I believe that my time spent with each of my counselors is invaluable and has shaped my professional identity.
Since completing my master’s level course work I have worked as a therapist for families and individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, served as a team member caring for children in the Arizona Department of Child Services system, worked as an individual, couples, and family therapist, taught educational and supportive groups, advocated for seriously mentally ill individuals, worked as a therapist at a 24 hour walk in crisis center, and answered calls to the National Suicide Hotline. Each of these roles has contributed to my overall mission of helping clients achieve stability and wellness, not only for themselves, but so they can support others.

I live in Arizona with my husband, two biological children, and two “bonus” kids. I was born and raised in Northwest Ohio and have spent over a decade in Arizona. I love the sunshine and could not imagine a place I would be happier to call home.
I enjoy quiet time to myself, especially if it involves a great book. Brene Brown is one of my favorite authors and someone who inspires me. Self-help and memoir books are my favorite books to read.
I love to learn and collaborate with others. Connection with others and practicing gratitude are the values that are most important to me.
My hobbies include spending time with my family, friends, neighbors and church community. I attend a monthly game night with a community of women and enjoy listening to live. country music whenever I can.
